Butterfly Education and Awareness Day
Kids Enjoyed Coloring the Poster Created by Ellie Usdan
We were delighted to join the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, on a perfect summer day, to celebrate Butterfly Education and Awareness Day, and also to share the newest book in the eco mystery series for middle grades, The Adventures of The Sizzling Six: Monarch Mysteries (book 6 in the series).
Making Butterfly Feeders (Boris Datnow)
What a pleasure to see children, as happy and carefree as the butterflies, learning about what they can do to conserve butterflies and bees. The kids were especially awed by the butterfly release sponsored by the Birmingham Zoo.
Waiting for the Butterfly Release
Paulette Haywood Ogard and Sara Cunningham Bright, authors of Butterflies of Alabama: Glimpses into Their Lives presented a delightful, family friendly slide show on the state’s butterflies.
