Reviews:

Five Star Review on Amazon by GBT: Third in the eco-adventure series of a group of girls finding out about themselves, their surroundings, and their opportunity for fun and responsibility, "The Living Treasure" ( The Adventures of The Sizzling Six: The Living Treasure: A Sizzling Six Eco Mystery (Volume 3) ) follows and even tops previous episodes in which they saved an ancient oak tree, and then defended an exotic lily from poaching. As in each of these stories, the activities of a group of girls describe a story to which all of us can relate. This time, the subject is a fresh water pearl from a species that is all but extinct, but the trail of their discoveries leads us all through fascinating descriptions of how the mussel relates to environmental health, development, water quality, science projects. Sounds heavy? No, this book is a rollicking delight that my grandchildren are all but ready to enjoy, and I with them as I read it to them out loud--if they don't speed ahead between sessions. And this time, Ms. Datnow has included QR codes to pique young minds to explore the themes she has introduced, putting to good use the technology that has become ubiquitous and incidental for almost everyone. Website citations provide expanded and alternate access, with links that pique the curiosity of readers of every age. Read this book--you will love it!

Your non-magic science theme competes in a sea of fantasy-based fiction, and I’m glad you’re doing it.

Could not wait to tell you this. One of the boys is almost finished with the manuscript. He has taken his job very seriously! I told me last week " this was the best book" I replied Mrs. Datnow will be pleased to hear that." I hesitated a minute and called him back to my desk. "What did you mean by that?" I asked. " Did you mean the best of her series, or the best of all books you've read?" He replied, " the best ever, even better than Harry Potter!" Traci Ingleright, Enrichment Teacher, and recipient, together with her Eco Brains students, of the Green Ribbon School Award

The author has taken her six stewards of Alabama's diverse ecosystems to the longleaf pine forests for another exciting adventure. Great fun read for young and old. Kay Stone, Auburn Environmental Institute, Outreach Program
